Peach of Easter! Freedom of Passover!
Just an update on ARxC’s persevering movement to help Georgians….
ARxC, as the lead of the Rx in Reach GA Coalition, our 36 health centered coalition members worked for three years to pass Step Therapy Reform legislation. This vital legislation, HB 63, passed the Georgia Assembly, April 2, 2019. Patients suffering, especially from chronic illness, will no longer have to ‘fail first’ on a less effective drug before they will be insured to receive the medications/therapies that their doctors prescribe for their best quality of life and improved health outcomes. House Bill 63 creates a basic framework for when it is medically appropriate to exempt patients from step therapy protocols and establishes a transparent process for health care providers to request exceptions. We are waiting for a date for Gov. Kemp to sign this bill.
ARxC looks forward to May to participate in the Walk for A Cure, Arthritis Foundation GA! Join us and please donate! We are working hard for you! https://events.arthritis.org/team/15310 .
As spring moves to summer ARxC will be holding its Board of Director meeting reviewing our patient’s status, supporting other nonprofits and reviewing progress on our 2019 priorities as we map our future plans to empower and strengthen our Georgia communities.
Leading our Rx in Reach GA Coalition, we are planning an early fall meeting to address our plans for the next legislative session supporting bills that enhance patient access to medications and therapies crucial for improved health outcomes. https://rxinreachga.org .
Our newest coalition; Georgia Coalition for Safe Communities (GCSC), will re-convene to explore actions and support that uphold sensible gun violence prevention policies. http://safegeorgia.org/
