On May 8, Georgia Health News published a news story on Georgia's attempt to expand Medicaid to a select number of patients served by the Grady Health System in Atlanta, Memorial Health in Savannah, and a small group of rural hospitals in Georgia. The plan, which is made possible through a Medicaid waiver, does not expand Medicaid to the 600,000 Georgians that remain without health insurance due to Georgia's decision not to expand Medicaid as per the Affordable Care Act.
ARxC has serious concerns about this small-scale approach as it leaves hundres of thousands of Georgians without health insurance and fails to be an equitable option for providing access to health care for all Georgians.
